This update is for SA-MP server owners only

We are issuing a server update for SA-MP 0.3e to address some minor problems.

If updating from an existing 0.3e server: You can update simply by replacing the 'samp03svr' file on linux, or 'samp-server.exe' file on Windows, found in the 0.3e server download package. In this update, you also may need to update the samp-npc binary if your server uses NPCs.

SA-MP 0.3e R2 server

- Upgrades connection security.
- Adds server.cfg variable 'chatlogging' to disable chat being written to the server log. Add 'chatlogging 0' to your server.cfg to disable the logging of chat messages (These can be logged manually from your script).

Learn to read? He said connection security was updated. NPCs connect to the server like a normal player would thus they have also increased security.

Released way too fast? It's the exact opposite. It takes too long for such changes to be released (minimal changes). Other modifications release such stuff within a month/a few weeks. Not being ungreatful (I already coped with the fact that SA-MP is slow as hell with updates) but it's true.

I don't have any idea what you mean by "too fast", but if you're disappointed by the fact that the 0.3e R2 server only brings 2 updates, then you should learn about how things work first. And you don't understand the necessity of this "too fast" update either, but let me explain: security updates usually need to be delivered to the server owners as the developers usually are not the only ones aware of the unsecure points.
Furthermore, if you're hinting to there only being 2 updates enlisted whereas it has been a while since 0.3e was released, then consider that Kye probably has several branches, so he can work on the next version (whatever it may be) while porting serious fixes to the 0.3e branch as well.

REPORT- IP/PORTS CLONE

Hey Kye! long time no see, and its been a while since I've reported,
NOT sure if this is a bug, that's why I did not post in bug area since i am not sure if its a linux server network issue or a sa-mp issue.


I'll report here, see if I get any replies if not, i'll report in a day in bug area:

I have 3 sa-mp servers in my dedicated server [Linux; Debian],
I was updating 2 sa-mp servers, when i turned 1 of them on, the 2nd server, on a different IP [same box]
reflected the 1st server- meaning like, 2 IPs was reflecting 1 server, i was accidentally getting players from another server, into PTP, when i turned 2nd server on, the- what looked like a bug- vanished and 2nd server started to show its correct server info.

This might not be a big issue, but i have NEVER experienced this issue before.

maybe because Mauzen wanted to know if Kye updated something on NPCs since RNPC is out. And he accutaly synced the NPC aim. So search again before speaking dude.

The Chatlogging CVar is good for servers over 100 players where debug messages cant be readed because of "[Chat]" spam. :D

The Chatlogging CVar is good for servers over 100 players where debug messages cant be readed because of "[Chat]" spam. :D
Make DEBUG: or something before every debug logging, then search for this phrase in logs, easier ;)
Still this is useful for people who log chat to databases anyway and don't need daily dose of eg. 100mb server.log file :P

People understood me absolutely wrong, and just to tell you that I wasn't whining but telling my opinion, or was it disallowed by the rules of the forum?

I was trying to say that instead of releasing two updates in a month, releasing ONE major update that includes all the minor stuff so we wouldn't have to update the server files all the time (especially when client updates are required). This is how it used to be a year, two years ago or do you think I am wrong? Sorry for making you all mad, that is just my opinion. And also I never said that security isn't important. How hard it can be to understand? :picard:

Gamemode restarts seems to be quite stable, but closing and reopening the server now works just very rare, mostly it doesnt connect at all, or ends in the banned problem.

Your point is still invalid, stop trying so hard. They should update it even more frequently to fix crucial bugs and add new features. I still dont get why there is no auto-updater for the client you can turn on/off (especially for smaller client updates that wont break server compatibility).

no, I always do this, ALWAYS. This is how I restart my server. I crash it then start it up and maximize GTA and wait for connection. got banned message once in R2(pretty quickly too), hardly ever ever got it in R1.

I suggest to make a special version with no ban for samp testers, assumed we need to reconnect instead of exit to the game and re-enter, but anyway will be nice to see more then 100 player get banned when server is restarted...

If you type "gmx" into the rcon console, it'll say that you're banned from this server.

Exactly, this would be something than better. Newer players might not realize that they should update their clients in order to join a server, after an update has been released.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "major". This is at best mildly surprising for a minute - then you make a timer to not have "Kick" under "OnPlayerConnect" and suddenly everything is fine! When the work-around is that simple it is NOT a major issue.

If you write GMX into the console to restart the gamemode it won't get you 'banned'. But if you, for example, just close the server.exe window and re-open it again, you will lose connection and on auto reconnect you will get 'banned' message.

So, in summary, if you do things wrong they don't work properly?

The R2 server is only a temporary solution to an existing problem. A proper fix will require a client and server update.

You don't have to update to the R2 server. There aren't any critical security problems in the R1 server that I'm aware of.

That Kick() in OnPlayerConnect() issue isn't specific to the R2 server. You can set a temp ban on their IP address and clear the temp bans later.

I read all the issues in this thread. Some of them are not easy to solve with only a server update, although they will be solved at some point. The server being paranoid about new connections is intentional for the moment.

Kye, why don't you just fix the ban bug and all of that crap all in one? Seriously, this bug has been there for a long time already and irritates almost everybody.. NPCs are also getting kicked when I get the banned bug, so it's pretty crap.

I meant to say, the developers need to re-connect every time (which is effectively closing and re-opening GTA) and this becomes extremely annoying--which is why this bug is important.

But bug or not it is deliberate to stop continuous connections from the samp IP, kye said he will change it in the next version, you could just use the older version for development and the newer for LIVE, nothing changed...

Yes, but in download page (http://sa-mp.com/download.php) it says the same at server, but at link is R2, so it's official.

What should I do?

In your server.cfg file, in your Server database, so you see gamemode0 there.

Type what GM you have, for example,

gamemode0 vinnie-rp 1

It is always important to add a 1 after typing a GM, because 0 means No, and 1 means Yes. Placing 1 means that it will be launched when samp-server.exe is launched

The '1' after the gamemode name is not needed, it means how many times the gamemode will be repeated before switching to the next gamemode if you have a multi-gamemode server. It doesn't mean "yes"/"no", the fact that the gamemode is in the list pretty much means "yes".

Hi i have a problem with my npc`s when i get in an npc car my player and the npc + vehicle flick to were the recording started then the player is ported back and the npc to were the player entered the vehicle, train carriages however work ok ... i have recompiled all the scripts with E2 and its still he same ... can anyone help with some advice ?

No.. thats not the reason. The reason is thats you use too mush RemovePlayerForBuilding
It's really a limit for this function. ;)

Well, server staff hate using logs to check if someone:
-broke the rules
-flamed
-etc.

Also, it might speed up the server a little bit and prevent chat lag. So be thankful, i'd like to see you make a mod for GTA that allows multiplayer.

I was wondering about using the Teamspeak API/SDK to create a plugin that controls a TS server based on SA:MP data like player distance etc. Requires you to enter your Teamspeak ID upon entering the server or using the same SA:MP name as your Teamspeak name. Not sure how hard it would be though...

Exactly the way 0.2x went on to 0.3a :D I remember joining everystuff before 0.2x came out and soon 0.3x will. Time flies.
