No. It makes PERFECT sense. The 8800's are still really powerful by today's standards. Newer GPU's such as the GTX 260's are only ~40% faster. The card is perfectly fine unless he wants to play Crysis at maximum settings with AA.

2. I am going to buy a new PC, but if motherboard has onboard 8200GS and I buy separate 9800GTX, will they work in SLI mode?

2. I am going to buy a new PC, but if motherboard has onboard 8200GS and I buy separate 9800GTX, will they work in SLI mode?

No, they won't. A 9800GTX will only work in SLI with a 9800GTX or a 9800GTX+. ATI 4000 series cards, however, can use CrossfireX with any other 4000 card. So a 4870 can be used with a 4850 for example.

But can it (onboard 8200) be used for triple-display mode?

This could be due to an onboard frame buffer if your motherboard has onboard video. Check BIOS.

Handles games like GTAIV flawlessly, 30FPS+ on medium high 1280x1024. I built this mid-2007 out of old computer parts and faulty machines left over. Over the course of time, I have upgraded:

RAM: From 1GB (400) to 3GB (800) for £25
MoB: Unknown Intel Board To a Gigabyte G31 board for £35
GPU: From 7200GT to a Zotac 9800GT Eco for £45.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it, I'm waiting for the prices of the E8400 to fall on ebay, I may be able to pick one up for around 50 bucks in a few months. So... In the past 3 years, I've only spent £100 on upgrades. Probbally another 50 for the CPU in 6 months, making that £150. That's not to shabby. O, and the older parts I had I sold of on ebay and got half the money back. :)

Now thats what I call budgeting :)

Funny how you say that, my most FPS eating game is GTA SA... And I've run both FS2004, FSX, CounterStrike Source, and other things... Really strange, probably due to uneeded st00f and big textures lol.

Sorry to go offtopic: Resume.

So your RAM has 4 Gigtransfers per second, your hard drive has 500, and your graphics card has 1? That's pretty good!

Don't you mean GB?

Believe it or not, but...
OS: Windows XP SP3
Manufacturer: Compaq
Model: Presario sr1710nx
CPU: AMD Sempron 3400+ @ stock (2.0GHz, could get up to 2.29, but it's still slow)

Hard drive: Around 90 GB, IDE I think?

Ugh, yeah, I'd happily take a leak into the case, but it's the only working computer I have till my laptop gets fixed. Plus, this thing overheats so much, it'd smell pretty bad, everyone knows hot piss is worse than normal.

My two PCs? Hmm....
Okay.

First PC (bought in 2003):
I don't remember all the details, since this PC has long been hidden .. somewhere. The mouse in one part, the keyboard in other part, the speakers in other part, and so on. I don't remember what came over me.
Originally:
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 98 SE
Processor - Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz
RAM - 256 MiB...
Graphics Card - I don't really remember, but I believe it had 64 MB of graphic memory. It did run GTA:SA at max at 45 FPS.
HDD - 40 GB
It also had a DVD-ROM slot, and 3 free slots.

After I modded it a bit:
OS - Microsoft Windows XP Professional Build 2600
Processor - Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz
RAM - 1 GiB
Graphics Card - Oh so same.
HDD - 200 GB or 100 GB. Something 'round that.
Lazy o' bolding everything now...

2007 ASUS laptop:

Processor: Intel Celeron M556 2 GHz
HDD: 250 GB
RAM: 2 GiB
Graphics card: Do I know? I do not. I just remember it had 256 MB of memory.
OS - XP Pro 2600. Meeh. So lazy o writin' everythin'...

Listed this off my head, as my PCs are at home and I'm at someone's house currently, so...
