It's used so you don't have to rely on the default primary key of 'id' on a database (or to keep the position / number of entries so far hidden), how does this have anything do to with GPCI?

Nice release. I was working on a project sometime ago which would have millions of items (100/1000's+ of each skin, vehicle, etc) ownable by players. This would have come in handy.

yeah, I guess it's a programming error in your robot brain, as we already know it's a programmer robot without feelings and emotions for which you can not make jokes, so apologize for the robot's error, it will not happen again, I've already deactivated the Troll filter in your brain, regards.

i'll say this, you will almost never have to use uuids....EVER.. maybe (and i use this strongly) only for some ambiguity

that MAY not be reused* (a sprinkle of a very weak collision argument)

1 question

Does it somehow keep track of generated/used uuid's or you are relaying on its "random" huge size to stay unique?

yes

the chances of a collision happening though is ridiculously low. like ridiculously ridiculously (did i say ridiculously?) low
