Lightbulb The Last of Us (SA-MP) - Almost one year!


Hello,

Almost one year ago I have started project called "The Last of Us (SA-MP)", which I wanted to keep quiet all this time... until now.

About us

I have managed to get a group to help me develop this project, we all had better and worse days, some people have left or they had to be removed from the group. I really appreciate people's potential to help with the project, I really want to thank the mappers I had before in a team, which were either removed or they have left.

I can officially say now, that we are a happy team which is working really hard and fast to get this project up and running. There's just four of us, well experienced people which are the best at what they love to do.

Team members

Riddick94, which is responsible for gamemode development from the very beginning and its full documentation. He also has created some custom models and has edited animations for the project. His responsibility is also to create a installer for the server, which is installing custom files for SA-MP to let people play at the server (files are affecting just our server). Riddick94 is the founder of TLoU (SA-MP) project.

About gamemode

The Last of Us (SA-MP) project is NOT supposed to be a typical Role-Play server. Since the name of the gamemode is including the name of the original game, that must mean the gamemode will include original game concept ideas. I am following features from Single-Player gamemode while ignoring Multi-Player mode (PSŪ game). Main goal of the gamemode is to achieve The Last of Us game concept in SA-MP, which is pretty hard.

Once player has registered at forum and created his character in his panel, he's allowed to join the game and play with us. Player will scavenge the San Andreas map, which will be fully re-done and similar to the original TLoU game environment. He will find many items at the map, which are either:

- Collectible (messages etc.);
- Weapons;
- Ingredients to craft an items.

Also, the gamemode is supporting similiar skill-tree that Joel in original game also has. Player will be able to update his weapon skills, health bar length and other.

Players are going to be able to create their own quarantine zones, where they will be able to live safe, unless something is going to happen. They will be able to open their "mini-shops" in quarantine zones, where they will giveout food when the army brings some and other illegal supplies (still in development, not finished). Some of them may be also smugglers (not confirmed yet).

Infected people are going to be ONLY NPCs, there are four stages of the NPCs that I have created already. Each of them is acting different. I've tried to make them as similar as possible to the original game. You can read about the infected stages here: http://thelastofus.wikia.com/wiki/Th...s_of_infection I've done all four stages.

We are planning to re-do the whole San Andreas state, including all the country sides. We are having map plan, which the mappers are following, they are re-doing the section they've been assigned to do.

Progress

Objects that you are going to see are mainly the GTA: SA defualt objects. Mappers are using a custom objects too, but there are not many yet. We are going to have more vehicle models which we will replace with the old SA destroyed cars which are for example in the middle of the Groove Street. They will be changed, so please remember, that the gamemode is still in development (especially mapping), so the final result will look different.

Have spent some great time of my life here since 0.1b version of SA-MP. I will never-ever forget the times I have had so much fun with people around here, during gameplay, scripting and being invented in so many SA-MP projects. Maybe I wasn't so active in FS/INC/GM sections to some of you and never have released that much but there's a reason behind it which isn't actually work mentioning. I am here to say goodbye to everyone and thanks for all the good times. TLoU (SA-MP) project shall never be finished because of me - but there's nothing we can do about it really. I think I am too old for all of it and same for the gaming (I guess) - I just can not let myself spend any more time in this addictive modification for GTA:SA. I have got something out of it and I respect it so much. Saying that I owe SA-MP my current job that I have is more than enough. There's not any certain steps that you have to take in order to achieve your goals.

I see custom stuff, are you going to have a client or will players have to install the mods?

Nice project btw, I find The Last of Us better than DayZ just because is simpler

We will be thankful to hear all your suggestions that will fit on The Last Of Us, just leave a comment . We're also looking for a mapper that can analyze the game well especially the type of mapping that we need.

I get the idea you're trying to accomplish with the first screen but it doesn't work out that well to be honest. It just looks weird. The inventory system looks superb, nice job. I will certainly take a look once it is online.
