What are your views on piracy and GTA?

Although I'm not in favor of piracy, I doubt it would be unaccurate to say that half(or more) than SA-MP's playerbase wouldn't be there if piracy didn't exist.

I myself bought the game twice for 10 euros, back in 2008. One for PS2 and one for PC!

...dude, I bought it for Xbox and the pc, so, it's like a waste of money just to buy it to keep it on the shelf... If you bought great, if not, well then it's a bit to late. Spend the money donating to a server rather than buying a game that you have that works.

GTA SA is an old game, so I have nothing against piracy in this case. Rockstar make millions with their new games and I bet they will not bankrupt if you download 5 $ pc game for free.
Btw, few weeks ago I downloaded some trial version software, after trial expired I just edited registry keys and software is now registered and up to date. I dont know if is this piracy because I dont share this with anyone and I keep this for myself.

Yes it is, that just means you cracked it instead of downloading a pre-cracked version.

And R* have released GTA 1 and 2 for free, but not the others - clearly they, the owners, disagree with your assessment that it is too old to be charged for!

Too all those "5$ isnt much" guys: So youre also stealing small things in shops because it wont harm the owners? This is really a bad peg, it doesnt matter if you steal one dollar or a million, its still a crime.
If it isnt much, then just buy it and the costs wont kill you. Either you are just too lazy to buy it, or really cant afford it, and then saying 5$ isnt much is double stupid. Those spoilt kids who think they can have everything they want, even if they cant buy it themselves, annoy me.

I've documented my views on piracy openly on my website and put up rebuttals to the most common of piracy advocating arguments, my views do not change for this game. I am still firmly against piracy of video-games. The game is great, you'll likely spend a ton more hours on this game than most of the other new games you buy for ten times the price, so at that cost it's a massive bargain.

I don't think it should be illegal to download a game for free AFTER you have purchased the game.

i.e. you buy a game then you accidentally drive your steamroller over the disc and it becomes unplayable: it should be legal to download the game from the web.

That's pretty much my view on piracy.

Well in my previous discussion, I stated I owned the game over 3 times due to snapped disks in the past. It's then surely, legitimate for me to download a pirated copy as I have licenses for the game?
