Iv been following zen or now Ryzen for some time. Iv used AMD for most my life. Last time i had a Intel chip was in a laptop i first used when playing on cbcnr's server back in 2007. Infact i recently built myself a computer using the FX-8350 back in september. I wish i kinda waited but no way i could off stopped myself spending the money lol. (Edit: if anyone wants to see the build then > http://ultrastunting.com/index.php/topic,1004.0.html) (no advertisement intended)

Anyway, I watched the presentation and watched a few tech vids about it all today and i have to say, As a AMD user im very happy. Not just as a kinda fan boy smug to intel but for a reason that you have to admit, This was kinda AMD's last good chance to bring any kinda competition to Intel. If this failed then shareholders would not of been impressed. (i say this because iv read this very thing somewhere) But what they have reported seems good and its not just good for AMD users, its good for everyone.. AMD are releasing a chip (1800X) at $499 which is compared to Intel's 6900K which is $999. If AMD continue to do good then prices will drop intel's side (Hopefully) If so its good for everyone.

This along with AMD Vega GPU's will be a very interesting 2017. And i for one will upgrade at some point. Maybe around Nov-Dec time so that way i can see how this pan out as i'm in no rush.

If you don't know much about the Ryzen hype then two videos for you to watch,

AMD 1700 is competition to i7 7700? Since when? Just look at clock's...The only thing that AMD does right is cache, they allocate more than enough, but Intel fixes these with internal structure. Also keep in mind that when buying high end processor you will be increasing your power use. AMD's will use way more power than Intel, and more power means more heat. While nobody gives a shit at winter, at summer everyone will. Im Intel fan and i hate Intel for many reasons, starting with all those integrated graphic cards that we dont use (but then again we could use Xeon).

you sound like that guy who hears shady information about amd from intel fanboys and relay it here as if ur some rocket engine genius

i can detect the symptoms of you being a major retard, please consult a psychologist before you start saying that amd will melt the south pole

Meh. I'm not inclined to buy anything from AMD again. Had too many misfortunes with overheating hardware and crappy driver support. Clock speed is ostensibly still more important than number of cores for gaming purposes. But I'll wait for the benchmarks.

AMD's single core performance is terrible. Moving from AMD to Intel was one of the best decision of my life. I see no reason moving back again.

That's not the case with Ryzen, they beat their goals and this is a good thing to bring Intel's prices down. They managed to make a CPU that intel offers for $1000 to $500.

The highest TDP of their line up goes to 95W (1800X, 1700X) and the 1700 is 65W.

Clock speed is not everything. You can design a cpu that can perform one 32bit multiplication in a single clock tick @2GHz and another cpu that takes up 2 ticks, but runs at 3GHz

Im never gonna give up my sources , specially the ones that give me shady information...
By the way, i have consulted psychologist and he told me its impossible for AMD to melt south pole, but he is not entirely sure about nort...
