Default MySQL storing float numbers?

Hi, My house system is a little buggy due to MySQL not storing coordinates.
It will still store the first part of the number, but anything after . will not be entered.
Is it because of my type on the MySQL field? (varchar...int...etc).

but I can't seem to find out the prob. Can anyone help me?

Edit
Fixed, thanks to kc
