Why not both ? Start off with JAVA first, then C++ and then you might understand the difference between them. Experience yourself.

Java personally, but C++ is easyer to learn try that.

I would say to you start first with basics (algorithms) then move on to C++ or JAVA.

I dove straight into Java after I stopped scripting Pawn.
It wasn't that difficult to learn, but I've done more than my fair share of copy/pasting from ****** searches. Those were mostly to get things started, such as how to display shapes, sprites, etc. Also I work with Android so I had to learn specifically for that.

So far I really like Java and object based coding. Making variables and functions specific to a particular entity are a breeze.
