Sony fails in networking, and Xbox 360 has a lot more functions while playing online.

Industry-Defining Milestone
By the end of this month, Xbox 360 will reach another industry-defining milestone: 25 million Xbox 360 consoles sold worldwide. It has taken the leading next-generation game and entertainment console just three years to eclipse the total lifetime number of original Xbox consoles sold.

"The future of home entertainment is Xbox 360—it's on-demand, it's high-definition, it's always social, it's all in one place," said Don Mattrick, senior vice president for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Corp. "With the New Xbox Experience, we will reach the next generation of Xbox owners, 25 million and beyond. We are at a watershed moment, backed by the largest entertainment brands, with an incredible lineup of entertainment unmatched in any industry."

Friends and Favorite Entertainment
With the launch of the New Xbox Experience, Xbox 360 owners have a limitless world where the best games and movies are ready to share with friends across the globe through Xbox LIVE:

* Xbox LIVE Party: Use Xbox 360 to create a virtual party on your TV with up to seven friends. With Xbox LIVE Party, use voice chat while you play games,* share photos in real time, and entertain friends all over the world.

* Personality plus: Create a customized, animated avatar and literally jump into the world of Xbox LIVE. Your avatar is your game face throughout the New Xbox Experience and represents your personality, whether you are serving as an Xbox LIVE Party host, playing a game of Scene It? ® Box Office Smash, or chatting with a friend.

* Your personal game room: Play revived classics such as PAC-MAN Championship Edition™, Galaga Legions, and Portal: Still Alive, alongside games that put your avatars in the action, such as A Kingdom for Keflings, UNO®, and Hardwood Hearts exclusively for download from Xbox LIVE Arcade. Xbox LIVE members also will be able to access all of Xbox LIVE Marketplace, including Xbox LIVE Arcade, and even queue content to download straight from Xbox.com.

* Games for the community, by the community: For the first time in the history of console gaming, thousands of games developed by the creative community will be available to the public. The Community Games channel on Xbox LIVE will include games made by students, hobbyists and maybe even your next door neighbor, and will be exclusive to Xbox live

Plus the fee is only 7 euros a month, 50 euros a year.

I have both, and I'd say get the PS3.

The new home is really really good. Although, at the moment it is only in the Beta. If you buy a 360, the online does have more features, although I have better connection on the PS3. More features yeah, but at a price. In the long run, the PS3 is better. You'll be spending twice the price of a PS3 after a year of having the 360, and that's if it doesn't break.

Again.

There are also several key point to be made. Sony has lost most of its EXCLUSIVE developers to Microsoft, there truely must be a good reason for this. There are two games in which the 360's true power is shown , Gears of War and HALO 3. Don't be fooled with Sony's flashy 7 core Cell CPU. I stood in line for 30 hours this past week and purchased a 60 gig PS3, and after the past few days I am sad to say that I very dissapointed with it. While it does have awesome graphics , it does have a problem with loading the games slowly and during gameplay it laags a bit. I certainly don not beleive it is worth the $600 I payed for it, I should have gotten a 360. The also seems to be a design flaw with the PS3's core design. Each core has a certain amount of embedded ram in which when utilized together have some awesome results. However due to the PS3's 7 cores sony's underpowered CPU controller is unable to run all the cores to their maximum potenial resulting in slow gameplay and overheating issues. This problem is that due to the weak cpu controller only 3 cores can access their maximum embedded ram at the same time while the other 4 run idle , thus making them useless. I assume it will be some time before Sony admits to this flaw.
Unlike the PS3's multi-core cpu that runs a 3.2 gigahertz total, the 360's CPU runs 3 symmetrical cores at 3.2 gigs EACH. In the end I beleive that the 360 will previal especially because Sony is losing about $300-700 per system sold while Microsoft is actually making a profit on their system sales. The 360 is also $200 more expensive than the PS3, plus the 360 can be modded for a bigger hard drive, believe me a 60 gig HD is not that a great selling feature, SO why waste your extra $200 bucks when you can get the same thing for $400? THINK before you buy and Enjoy !

@Boylett: Had the same problem with PS1, i still have 2 of them, both broken.

@Tez: Why is that? You won't, unless you're buying more storage space. And you're still not going above the PS3 price, or even near. Also fixing the Xbox 360 for overheating issues is free, and it has been fixed in newer versions.

Also.. Buying an Xbox 360 with 120GB HDD, is still cheaper than buying a 60GB PS3.

About 48 milliseconds after the format war was officially over, rumors started running rampant (again) about Blu-ray making its way over to Microsoft's latest console. Now, however, those rumors actually have some legs -- well, at least a leg. According to Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, "Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360." For whatever it's worth, the exec also noted that it was having similar discussions with Apple, which has yet to even offer a Blu-ray option on any of its machines. Unfortunately, not a peep was uttered about potential launch dates and the like, but you can rest assured that we'll be keeping an ear dangerously close to the ground.
The rumours say that would be coming next year. So ha!

My PS3 still works perfect like an angel :P
Don't break your controllers either, I was sittting next to my brother, he got annoyed and threw a controller at the bird cage once and the controller smashes into bits (though it was funny)

I have no problems with PS3, nothing .
My brother has problems with Xbox, the Xbox wouldnt find IP and stuff for him but PS3 does and it is much quicker.

GO FOR PS3! <3
